Accessibility
The Americans with Disabilities Act and our ADA Accessibility Statement
We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to all its customers and compliant with accessibility guidelines. We are continually making improvements to meet these guidelines, and our website has been designed with accessibility in mind
This website, without the aid of any apps or widgets, is coded & has been tested to work with JAWS for a Mac operating system (click Ctrl + F5), NVDA for a Windows operating system (download here), and ChromeVOX for a Google ChromeBook operating system. If you are using a web browser on a Linux operating system or if you do not wish to use these standard screen reading softwares there is an app that can help guide you through our website. The app is located in the top left corner of every page of our website. If you can not visually identify the widget you will need to refresh the page you are on, "click tab" on the keyboard and "click enter" to open it. Reach out to our customer service if you need further assistance via phone at 760-827-1400 or via email at shop@cieluxe.com.Â
Cie Luxe has tested our website to ensure the code operates with NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) software. NVDA is a free, open-source screen reader for Microsoft Windows that enables people who are blind or have low vision to use computers. You can click here to download the NVDA software.
A website is a living document/asset, and the regular updates to the website platform, as well as the changes to the versions of web browsers require us to take additional measures to ensure access to our website. Additionally, Cie Luxe does not solely cater to customers who use a Microsoft Windows operating system. Read below to review the additional measures we have taken to "fill the gaps" to ensure accessibility and to include access for customers using a Mac/Apple, Linux, or Google Chrome operating system.
(Website Editor's Note: [1] We are currently waiting for an update, and until it is available we have added ARIA code to a "section" or "<span>" describing it's contents in full, as opposed to adding the ARIA to the individual elements of the section. The ARIA code explains to a customer using a screen reader that the next "section" on the page has all the details broken down into individually readable elements for them. [2] One of our most frequent questions from customers about shipping is "how long before you ship an item & what is the average shipping time for an item". Because of this we included a short sentence in the footer of our website, to show up on every web page. No matter how we structured the code, the sentence, the ARIA tags this line of copy in the footer weakened our ADA Compliance score. When we have finalized the best way to include this information and put it back where we have promised our customers can locate it, we will. [3] The theme we use for our website adjusts for iPhones, tablets and laptop/desktop screens. For this reason, the code "hides" elements that are irrelevant while being viewed on a desktop computer or a laptop. This lowers our ADA Compliance score, even though the elements hidden are hidden to both sighted and visually impaired customers for practical purposes.)
We use Shopify as a website platform. Shopify’s standard checkout is designed to be accessible for users with visual impairments and supports assistive technologies like screen readers. It is built to meet WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards, ensuring features like keyboard navigation and proper form field labeling. You can learn more about Shopify's WCAG, Level A & Level AA compliance on their website. Key aspects of Shopify's checkout accessibility include:
• Screen Reader & Keyboard Compatibility: The checkout process enables navigation and completion without a mouse
• High Completion Rates: Recent tests showed a 100% completion rate for users with assistive technologies
• Accessible Components: Components are designed with input from people with disabilities.
Cie Luxe does not use custom apps or third-party modifications to disrupt Shopify's robust accessibility functions of the checkout process. Cie Luxe does personally modify the code of the website to ensure the experience of a visually impaired or blind customer is as similar as possible to a sighted customer. Cie Luxe has added an accessibility app to further aid customers of all abilities, ADA Accessibility ACCESSpro, built for Shopify.

Not all website designs are intuitive for every customer and not all customers have the same ability to navigate all websites. Cie Luxe has taken care to choose a website theme from Shopify that will allow us to present our large assortment of products in a visually appealing way that is not in conflict with their brand guidelines. We have also carefully chosen a website theme that can be read by screen readers and a font that is easy to read for sighted customers:
• High Legibility: Even at small sizes, Amiri is noted for its clear, well-crafted characters, making it suitable for both headlines and body text.
• Traditional Style: It is a revival of a 20th-century Bulaq Press typeface, designed to feel natural and comfortable for long-form reading.
